Beaches

Calm and bustling. Comfort and adventure. One of the main attractions of the Costa del Sol is the variety of beaches. Málaga province is bathed by the waters of the Mediterranean Sea and boasts a total of 161 km of coast, running from Manilva to Nerja. Marbella Beaches stretch from Calahonda all the way to Marbella Town and then it continues along the Golden Mile which is the area between Marbella and Puerto Banus to finish on the guadalmina´s beach. You can walk for hours along the Marbella Sea Front passing many shops, cafes and restaurants and also the Plaza del Mar Shopping Complex with the Supercor Supermarket, a number of outside Cafes, a Gymnasium and multi screen Cinema.

The beaches from Marbella to Calahonda are generally quite sandy and shallow .You can enjoy the lively Marbellan lifestyle to the full or nudist beaches providing privacy in a privileged microclimate with warm temperatures all year long. With 27 kilometres of coastline you will be able to find the side of the Costa del Sol that you are looking for.

There are 25 individual beaches in Marbella however, rather than referring to beaches by their actual name, i.e. Playa de la Fontanilla or Playa Alicate, locals tend to talk about beaches in terms of the chiringuito (beach bar), restaurant or beach club that operates there. Several of beaches in Marbella also boast the prestigious Blue Flag awards, signifying they are the best in the world in terms of water quality, safety, facilities and environmental management. In addition to these blue flag promises, you can also find showers, public toilets (although no baby changing facilities!), rubbish bins, lifeguards and parasols and sunloungers to rent on the majority of beaches along the Costa del Sol.
